Upcoming event: art exhibition exploring dyscalculia and NvLD

Alexa Raisbeck remembers shop assistants laughing at her because she couldn’t work out the correct change. It took her five years of searching to find out that her problems had a name: dyscalculia. Now she’s a successful artist.

Her current exhibition, Hidden, runs for three days next week in London and explores what it’s like to have an undetected non-verbal learning disability (NvLD).

Oxford artists are creating window displays with a difference this winter. WinterLight Windows is a series of installations created by artist-led community groups to brighten up Oxfordshire windows this winter. 

Putting people in the frame

Her name may not mean anything to people outside the art world, but P J, or Pamela, Crook's paintings are instantly recognisable. Her vast canvases and innovative use of frames would make her a cult figure even without her distinctive brushwork and crowded scenes. No wonder, then, that her work has been exhibited all over the world and attracted the attention of celebrity collectors. Her latest exhibition, though, is closer to home, at the Brian Sinfield gallery in Burford, from July 1-31.
