I was hired to edit the Oxford Times weekly property supplement and write advertising features for Newsquest Oxfordshire’s suite of publications (including the Witney Gazette and the Didcot Herald). In this capacity I became fluent in estate-agent-speak and wrote about everything from blackberry-picking to hot-air ballooning.
But I also went beyond the day job to write other features for Newsquest Oxfordshire’s papers and many supplements. I also reviewed plays and occasionally wrote a news story. At one point I was given responsibility for creating a pocket travel guide to Oxford, so I researched and wrote the entire thing myself.
